Windward Community College (WCC) operates a NOAA weather satellite Earth Station at its Lanihuli Observatory. This Earth Station consists of a Telonics-Remote Imaging System (T-ris), which was designed and fabricated by Telonics, Inc. (Mesa, Arizona).

T-ris is a satellite tracking data acquisition and processing system for the reception of L/D Band digital downlink signals from all HRPT-like polar orbiting/LEO satellites (such as, NOAA and SeaWiFS). Primary coverage is NOAA Advanced Very High Resolution (AVHRR) data.

The Earth Station consists of an outdoor assembly (which includes a fully-steerable 3-foot tracking antenna and positioner) and an indoor imaging PC-based workstation (including integrated antenna control, receiving system and image processing software).
