The Hoaaina RS/GIS Center houses 5 NT computer workstations and a dedicated server for conducting both GIS and image analysis. Among the GIS software available are: ARC/INFO and ArcView GIS with such extensions as Spatial Analyst, 3-D Analyst, Image Analysis and Network Analyst. These computers are supplemented by an adjacent PowerMac Computer Lab, as well as other campus PC Computer Labs located in Hale Kuhina and Hale Noeau.

These computers are supported by high-end peripherals, including: a large-format map printer, a digitizer, a high resolution scanner, and a CD-ROM Re-Writable Drive for database archival purposes. A large-format photocopier is also available for GIS mapping.

Users of this facility have access to several Trimble meter- and submeter-accurate GPS units. Lower-end Magellan GPS units are also available. In additional, the Hoaaina RS/GIS Center operates a differential GPS base station. Future plans call for providing internet access to its archival database for conducting post-processing corrections off-site and for the installation of a radio transmitter for conducting real-time corrections in the field. The antenna for this base station is mounted at the Hale Imiloa Science Building, which is nearby Kaneohe Bay and the Koolau watersheds where most of WCC student research projects are conducted.

The Hoaaina RS/GIS Center is supported in its remote sensing efforts with a T-ris satellite tracking station which permits reception of D-band digital downlink signals from HRPT-like polar orbiting/LEO satellites, including both weather and ocean imaging satellites. This facility permits the capture and analysis of NOAA Advanced Very High Resolution (AVHRR) data .
